Description
Taste Tibet is the food of Yeshi Jampa. Born and raised in rural Tibet, Yeshi grew up herding livestock on the high reaches of the Plateau. He learned to cook inside a yak hair tent at a young age. When he was nineteen, Yeshi walked across the Himalayas to northern India, where he later met Julie. Yeshi’s mouthwatering momos won Julie’s heart, and they are now married with two children and living in Oxford, UK.
Here we are in India back in 2009!
In 2014 we started the Taste Tibet food stall. For years, we served up momos and more from a replica Tibetan picnicking tent, and during the summer months we still take this to festivals across the land.
In November 2020, during the second Covid lockdown, we opened our first fixed site. We are Time Out’s Best Restaurant in Oxford right now, BBC Food Awards finalists (2021) and runners-up in the Best Value Eats category of the 2022 Observer Food Awards.
